Scout Jamboree (Ruwa Park)

Salisbury

Scout Park was the permanent camping site for the Boy Scouts Association.

Postal Services

During the 1959 Central African Jamboree, the Post Office seconded Mr John Bell, a Salisbury Scouter, from the Salisbury G.P.O. The Post Office at Ruwa Park consisted of a wooden building. All normal post office business was conducted. Mail was dispatched from the camp by the Jamboree Transport Section usually twice, daily, from Ruwa to Salisbury G.P.O.

In addition to the postmaster, a Zimbabwean messenger was employed to deliver telegrams etc using only a bicycle.
