Little is known of the history of Wright’s Florists. However, it seems to have had a nursery arm and a florist arm. By 1962 it was part of Interflora. The business no longer exists today.

Originally a cast iron foundry principally manufacturing spares for the mining industry, Nimr and Chapman has been based in Bulawayo since 1931. Founding partner Martin Nimr obtained control of the equity in the early 1940s.

Nimr and Chapman’s steady growth has culminated in the company being one of the largest fully integrated, heavy engineering works, capable of producing some of the largest castings and heavy machine work in Zimbabwe today. These wide ranging facilities, broad technical expertise and commitment to excellence have ensured that the customers have enjoyed over 60 years of consistently high quality products and services.

Jack Arres Florist (PVT) Ltd.

Salisbury

Cecil Vandre and Norah Neill opened a nursery and flower shop on Stanley Avenue in Salisbury in 1932. This eventually became Jack Arres Florist, the biggest florist in the city, catering to all Government functions and the Royal family. The shop was sold in 1954 after the sudden death of Cecil at age 41.
