Memoir 36 – Luanshya: A Tale of Copper Mining, Labour Relations, People and Politics

Details
Memoir 36 traces the history of the Luanshya community from pre-colonial days to the present. The Luanshya saga is based on archives housed in Zambia’s National archives and the philatelic collections of several members of the RSC. A number of 1950-60s photographs of men at work at Roan Antelope were taken by I.R. ‘Bob’ Menzies, who was the Personnel Manager of the mine for over a decade. This RSC publication also features case studies describing the challenges of everyday urban life in post-independence Zambia.
