Spink are to offer the collection of Rhodesia formed by David Carson of Ilkley. The collection includes a good number of Double Heads, mostly mint with the £1 error corner pair with gash, ex Uria, used with 5d. lake-brown and green, and a range of covers and cancellations with many ex the Norman Levin collection.

These include lots offered as Mines, Northern and Southern Rhodesia together with a range of covers including first day envelope franked at 2½d. and postcard at 1d. On the morning of the 26th July, there is another sale in the Lionheart series which also offers a small group of Rhodesia.

1,365 lots to be sold over two days. The sale commences with the fine Ric Otton British Commonwealth Collection, a group of over 280 lots with many fine one country collections offered intact. We continue with countries A-Z with exceptional Australia, Bahamas, Bermuda with the unique 1863 American style “PAID AT IRELAND ISLAND” cover, Falkland Islands, Grenada, Rhodesia with a fine selection of 1910-13 “Double Heads”, Tanganyika, Virgin Islands, Collections and Ranges, etc., the sale concludes with over 350 lots of Great Britain which includes interesting postal history, featuring the fabulous collection of letters and pamphlets by the sone of Rowland Hill and James Chalmers disputing who had invented the postage stamp, the first commercially produced Christmas Card, a fine section of 1840 1d. blacks, Queen Elizabeth II errors and varieties, including the iconic 1962 N.P.Y. 1/3d. with Queen’s head omitted, etc.
