Education Ordinance

1903

The Education Ordinance of 1903 granted to Mission schools among other things:

  1. At least 40 pupils attended school on 150 days of four hours daily during the year
  2. Industrial work was systematically taught
  3. The pupils were taught to speak and understand the English language, and
  4. Instruction was carried on in a satisfactory manner.

The amount of the grant depending on the efficiency of the school would not exceed £125 per annum. In 1914, the Administration increased the maximum amount per annum to £200.
