University College of Rhodesia

University College of Rhodesia

After the dissolution of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, the University College of Rhodesia & Nyasaland was renamed the University College of Rhodesia. It continued as an independent institution of higher education and research, open to all races.

In 1970 a phased termination of the associations with the Universities of London and Birmingham began. It now went under the name of the University of Rhodesia.

In 1980, the university was renamed the University of Zimbabwe.
