Sheraton Harare Hotel

Sheraton Harare Hotel

Harare

In November 1985, the Government constructed a five-star hotel and conference centre in Harare, operating under a Harare Sheraton Hotel contract.

In 1991, the Zimbabwe Tourism Investment Commission (ZITC) was formed to manage tourism interests under the name Rainbow Tourism Group (RTG). In the same year, a bomb exploded in the foyer of the hotel. It is believed it was intended to jeopardise Zimbabwe’s hosting of British Commonwealth countries.

In 1999, the Sheraton management contract was re-negotiated and the hotel was renamed Sheraton Harare Hotel. In 2005 the Sheraton contracted ended and the Sheraton Harare Hotel and Conference Centre was merged. It is now known as Rainbow Towers Hotel.
