Monfort Press was established in 1957 in Thyolo by the Montfort Fathers to multiply their missionary efforts to print explanations of the catechism, to print a bible commentary with explanations to actual life, and print a magazine with how their teachings applied to life.
In 1961, after years of using second-hand printing devices which did not work on arrival, the press moved to new premises in Limbe. As part of its effort to manage budget, the press undertook a number of commercial activities. Popular Publications became one its subsidiaries.
It is now known as Monfort Media.
