The Rhodesian Study Circle’s Diamond Jubilee
20th Annual Conference
2008 AGM
11, 12, 13 April 2008

The RSC’s 20th Annual Conference will take place over the weekend of 11, 12, 13 April 2008 at our usual venue, the Falstaff Hotel, 16 -20 Warwick New Road, Leamington Spa, Warwickshire, CV32 5JQ. (Tel. 01926 312044).

If you haven’t already booked, want to come along and need a room, please let Mark Thomas know as soon as possible - his details are in your Rhodesian Study Circle Journal or contact him through this site.

Even if you are just attending on one of the days, it is always useful to know you are coming – and especially if you are hoping to contribute to the displays on Sunday (tell Mark). If you intend to bring anything along to put in the Conference auction – it is not essential, but handy if you could let Geoff Brakspear know in advance.

Conference programme will commence at 10.00am on Saturday 12th April through to 4.00pm on Sunday 13th April (Sunday is a 10.00am start too).

Friday evening is about eating, drinking and socialising and well worth the overnight stay; Saturday is invited displays (this year the theme is Northern Rhodesia - see below) and Sunday for members’ displays. On Sunday, there will be a time-limit on the length of presentations (strictly 10 minutes), but displays can be large or small or even very small: the Conference Organiser will try to ensure the sequence of displays is as compatible and interesting as possible – please let him know your plans and preferences and whether you want to be considered a competition entrant – for which the limit is three frames, 36 sheets or 27 (i.e. 4x3 or 3x3)

During Saturday morning - and as this is a very special 20th anniversary conference and our Diamond Jubilee year - Past Presidents of the Rhodesian Study Circle will take the floor. Chris Cooksey, Cecil Russell and Kevin Ashworth will show some fabulous material.

The Livermore competition will be judged over lunchtime when Council meets.

Our AGM is held in the Beaufort Suite at 4.00pm followed by the Conference auction soon after proceedings.

Saturday afternoon will be devoted to Northern Rhodesia. Tony Banks, Jean Cheston, Alan Drysdall, Keith Hanman and Mark Thomas will be showing material: both stamps and postal history.

Not long now - and we all look forward to a very memorable RSC Conference 2008!
