1951 First Direct Flight
On 1st April, 1951, Central African Airways inaugurated a new direct airmail service between Salisbury, Southern Rhodesia; Blantyre, Nyasaland; and Dar es Salaam, Tanganyika.
The new service, called the Coastal Viking, provided for the first time, a fast, same-day air link between the Rhodesias, Nyasaland, Tangankyika and the Union of South Africa.
