Department of Land – Land Settlement Board

In August 1908, Harold Henry Abraham de Laessoe became the first officer within the board and under the control of the Director of the Department of Land Settlement.

In November 1913, the Company established a new scheme for the encouragement of land settlement and immigration. The principal of these was the Land Settlement Board, on which the European community was to be represented, for the acceleration of the settlement and taxation of undeveloped land, the proceeds to be used by the board.
