Barclays Bank

Barclays originated from the Bank of Africa (founded 1879), which had established branches as early as 1895 in Rhodesia and was acquired by the National Bank of South Africa in 1912. In 1925, the National Bank of South Africa was acquired by Barclays Bank (Dominion, Colonial and Overseas).

In 1971, Barclays (D.C.O) of Northern Rhodesia became Barclays Bank of Zambia Ltd, and in 1981, Barclays in Zimbabwe became Barclays Bank of Zimbabwe Ltd.
