History
The Rhodesian Study Circle was formed in 1948 following advertisements in the philatelic press in England and South Africa by Wilfrid Nodder, inviting “collectors of the stamps of Southern and Northern Rhodesia and Nyasaland” to join in forming a study circle. The aims were to encourage interest in the stamp issues, circulate information about varieties, flaws and postmarks and to write a handbook. A detailed history by A Drysdall and C M Hoffman to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the RSC is available free to members.
Membership
Membership of the RSC is 384 worldwide with 234 UK and 150 overseas members at the latest count.
Annual Subscription
Members pay the annual subscription of £17 (2010), Juniors (under 18) £5, due on 1st January, plus a £2 postage supplement for posting the Journal to Europe and the rest of the world surface, and a £7 airmail supplement for Overseas members who wish to receive their Journal by airmail.
Please note the 2005 subscription covered the period 1st June to 31st December 2005 and an increased annual subscription from 1 January 2006 was agreed at the AGM in April 2005.
Meetings and Events Regular meetings are held in:
- London, Manchester and Scotland.
- U.S.A. and Canada.
- South Africa.
- Zimbabwe.
- Australia and New Zealand.

Journal
The award winning Journal, price £5 but free to members, is published four times a year – March, June, September and December – and averages 40 pages per issue. In addition to regular features such as Circle News, Postmarks, Members Ask, etc. each issue has a number of Articles, typically the December 2004 issue included the following:

Auctions Members postal bid auctions take place once or twice a year with a good selection of lots covering all territories and periods. Auction catalogues are sent direct to members. Members not wishing to receive these should advise the Secretary.

Publications
As well as the award winning Journal the RSC Handbook comprising a comprehensive guide to published literature, Journal Cumulative Index 1970-1994 and the History of the RSC is free to members. A number of publications are available for purchase and a full list of these is available in the Forum
Library
Some 200 books and magazines are available for loan to members for up to 3 months. Members pay the full cost of postage and packing and arrangements can be made for collection and return of loan items at London Meetings and the Annual Conference. The Library list can be downloaded by members from the RSC Members section of the Forum.
