70th Anniversary of the Rhodesian Study Circle

70th Anniversary of the Rhodesian Study Circle

The Rhodesian Study Circle will be celebrating 70 years as a leader in philately by holding a gathering at the Victoria Falls in 2018.

This is an opportunity for our community to celebrate 70 wonderful years of the Rhodesian Study Circle by providing members and friends an opportunity to visit the unique lands of Southern Africa.

Getting There

International flights to Lusaka and Johannesburg are the most convenient with connections into Livingstone. Regional flights from Lusaka and Johannesburg are available to and from Victoria Falls Airport.

The RSC has an appointed travel agent in Johannesburg that can assist anyone with arranging their flights.

The Visa that will be required is a UNIVISA which has 30 day validity.

Visas are obtained on arrival at Victoria Falls Airport where there is a combined Visa available for both Zimbabwe and Zambia and even for day trips into Botswana via the Kazungulu ferry. Visas cost between US$50 and US$100 (approximate cost) and all should ensure that they have US Dollars in Cash to pay for the visas.

Rooms have been secured at both hotels and deposits will be required by no later than 15th October, 2017. Reservations will be in the names of the persons who will be using the accommodation.

For those who have missed out on the RSC-organised accommodation, the RSC has a South African travel agent who can assist you with alternate accommodation options.

Food & Beverages

The RSC is working on negotiating lunch and dinner rates at the two hotels. There are a number of good restaurants at Victoria Falls and you may elect from time to time to dine out at one or two of these. We shall have a couple of slots free to facilitate such dining activities.

Drinks will be generally for participants account, other than the cocktail parties where wine, beer and soft drinks will be provided and at dinner where a limited allocation of red and white wine will be provided.

Your personal budgets should cater for the above costs.
